Cherwell Innovation Centre is located in Upper Heyford just a few miles from Bicester on the site of the former RAF Heyford, which was used by the US Air Forces Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. Today, Heyford Park is a growing business location, with many of the former buildings, aircraft hangers and even the runway now being used by the businesses on the park.
The Innovation Centre occupies 2 buildings on site which were formerly used by the RAF as accommodation blocks for their servicemen. One of the buildings now housed by the Centre was opened in 1998 with support from the North Oxfordshire Consortium and Cherwell District Council, then in November 2001 the second building was opened as a result of its initial success.
In 2003, we launched the DiagnOx Laboratory, a fully equipped managed laboratory and office facility that allows researchers or companies with primarily in the Bio Technology Industry to undertake R&D and proof-of-concept work cost-effectively and in a supportive environment.
Cherwell Innovation Centre is home to an interesting mix of technology and science based companies, attracted by the Centre's rural location, and the flexible, professional and supportive office and lab facilities. The Centre plays a key role in the innovation ecosystem in north Oxfordshire - with just under 20,000 sq ft of office and laboratory space ranging from 100 sq ft to 600 sq ft the Centre has developed the business facilities and commercial infrastructure to support over 40 companies, each with between 1 and 25 employees. Serviced offices and laboratory space are available to let at short notice and our flexible approach means businesses can take more space within the Innovation Centre as they expand.
For companies not yet ready for a physical office, we also offer virtual office and hotdesking solutions.
The on-site meeting and conference rooms are ideal for client appointments and presentations and there’s a welcoming reception desk where guests are greeted and booked in by professional receptionists.
The Cherwell Innovation Centre is just 5 minutes drive time from the A34, A43 and junction 10 of the M40 giving easy access to London, Midlands, South and North.
