About us
Cherwell Innovation Centre is located on the site of the former RAF Heyford, near Bicester, which was used by the US Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. Today, Heyford Park is a growing business location, with many of the former buildings, aircraft hangers and even the runway now being used by the businesses on the park.
The Innovation Centre occupies 2 buildings on site which were formerly accommodation blocks for servicemen. It opened in 1998 with support from the North Oxfordshire Consortium and Cherwell District Council, then in November 2001 the second building was opened as a result of its initial success.
In 2003, we launched the Diagnox Laboratory, a fully equipped managed laboratory and office facility that allows researchers or companies to undertake proof-of-concept work cost-effectively and in a supportive environment.
The centre is home to an interesting mix of technology and science based companies, who are attracted by the rural location close to Bicester and only 5 minutes from junction 10 of the M40 and A43, and the flexible, professional and supportive office and lab facilities.
